 Hostería del Pedregoso lies on Cholila Lake, 15 km from the village of the same name which is 60 km south of El Bolson and nearly 200 km south-west of the city of San Carlos de Bariloche. The easiest way to get there is to take a commercial flight from the Jorge Newbery domestic airport in the City of Buenos Aires to Bariloche and rent a car to drive the 196 km to Del Pedregoso, a three to four-hour journey. Arrangements can also be made with the Hostería for a pick-up at the airport.
Commercial flights leave daily from Jorge Newbery to the Aeropuerto Internacional Teniente Luis Candelaria at San Carlos de Bariloche, which is some 1,650 km south-west of Buenos Aires. The flight takes approximately two hours and twenty minutes.
Driving instructions
From Bariloche airport, drive south along the Ruta Nacional (RN) 40 for 157 km; just after the turn-off to Epuyén, route 40 which is still paved at this point, swings left. At the crossroads, turn off onto the Ruta Provincial 71 (RP) which is a gravel road. At km marker 28.5 is the turn-off to the village of Cholila which is just 1.6 km away down RP 15.

From the village of Cholila, follow the signs to the lake along route 71 in the direction of Villa Rivadavia for some 3 km. On the right is the turn-off to the country track to Lake Cholila and the Hostería, a 15 km drive. The cross roads is marked with a sign pointing to the Hostería and there are plenty more indicating the direction and distance along the track until the Hostería comes into view, a two-storey butter-yellow house on the banks of the río Pedregoso. Here there is a camp site and a parking area to leave the car.
Guests can cross the Pedregroso river over a sturdy rope-and-plank bridge, and then walk a further 250 m to the two-storey buttercup-yellow Hostería on the banks of the Carrileufú river. In dry weather, the river can be forded by high-clearance four-wheel drive vehicles to drive right up to the inn itself. The baggage is taken care of by the Hostería staff.
